Established in 1927 as the William Land Park Zoo, the Sacramento Zoo has more than 500 animals that comprised of over 120 species. It is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, California Association of Zoos and Aquariums and Sacramento Association of Museums. The zoo is a part of the Sacramento Zoological Society, which was founded in 1956 to raise funds for the zoo. It hosts various raffles and auctions throughout the year. The Sacramento Zoo encompasses an area of more than10 acres and works for the conservation and preservation of animals. It organizes a range of activities, such as birthday parties, painting sessions and games for children. Additionally, the zoo provides online information on various animals. The Sacramento Zoo also organizes a variety of educational workshops, camps, summer classes and trips. It maintains a location in Sacramento, Calif.
