Juvenile Hall is where youth find themselves after being arrested, booked and determined to be a risk to the community. Here they'll wait for court appearances, serve sentences or await release to other programs. Juveniles detained here attend El Centro Junior or Senior High School, the Sacramento County Office of Education's program for residents of Juvenile Hall.
Juvenile Hall has a swimming pool, gymnasium and courtyards for recreation, as well as on-site medical and mental health staff. The staff also provides a Detention Enrichment Program, which organizes group activities to encourage better social behavior and interaction.
Religious services are provided by the Juvenile Justice Chaplaincy Volunteer Program.
Friends and family members wishing to visit residents of Juvenile Hall are asked to come to the Juvenile Hall Visitor Center, located nearby at 4136 Branch Center Road.
