History
Built in 1998, city officials from the beginning considered it an Eel River Valley Conference Center that just happens to be located in Fortuna CA. The Fortuna city staff, businesses and residents of the Eel River Valley and the many contributors outside of Humboldt County deserve many thanks for their support. One of the primary goals of building the lodge was to increase the bed tax and sales tax revenues and to attract another hotel to the area. The RV Park and three other hotels already existed. One objective that was entertained was to fill motel rooms in the off-season with adult tour groups. The target audience was to be; Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, and Palm Springs.
