History
A magazine for a new era of responsibility A few years ago, a friend told me that she no longer read the local city magazines because they were all focused on a life that she did not live, with houses that looked nothing like her home. I started asking around, and the answer was the same from almost everyone I met in San Diego's traditional neighborhoods -- from Carlsbad to Chula Vista, Point Loma to La Mesa. People from across the county wanted a magazine that placed relationships above materialism, passion above status and volunteerism above self-gratification. The events of the past year have increased the need for a new kind of a magazine. San Diegans recognize that we are in a new era of responsibility -- that we have duties to our neighbors, our community and ourselves. More than ever, people want a magazine that helps them live a fulfilled life -- one characterized by family and friends, community service, passion and appreciation for the little things.
