Wikipedia: RenderX started in 1999 as a company to promote open standards in general and XSL-FO in particular, participating in a contest announced by Sun and Adobe. Later company extended its product line to include many software publishing tools. RenderX has devised a DTD for XSL-FO documents and holds three patents of converting XML to PDF. RenderX is one of a member of the World Wide Web Consortium and a contributor to OASIS. There is a wide variety of RenderX users - from students and free non-commercial license users, to US and EU governments, States and City governments, Fortune 500, etc.
