Owned and operated by the County of San Diego, Ramona Airport serves all types of aircraft and is one of the busiest airports in the county system. Airport businesses provide flight instruction and fuel services.
The airport also houses the Ramona Air Attack Base, which includes Cal Fire air tankers and a U.S. Forest Service helicopter. Firefighting efforts out of the base have been critical in extinguishing major firestorms in San Diego county.
The airport is located approximately 1,500 feet above sea level, so it is usually above coastal fog but below mountain weather.
