The Quality of Life Center is the home of programs designed to help young people acheive a better quality of life and succeed academically. It is housed at Eliot Middle School, but serves students across the Pasadena Unified School District.
The mission of the Quality of Life Center is to develop and manage centers with multi-cultural programs and services designed to ensure that opportunities for success are equally shared by all participants. The program teaches leadership to students, and helps them because strong public speakers with good social skills.
One of the center's achievements is that 100 percent of the seniors in the programs from all local high schools have enrolled in a college. In the past five years, program participants have grown from 35 to more than 500.
The program is run by Dr. Sandra Thomas, who is also involved with the Town Council and the NAACP.
