PowerCET
PowerCET Corporate Overview Since its founding in 1986, PowerCET Corporation has focused on improving the productivity and reliability of electronic systems through consulting, education and training programs for client companies. PowerCET stresses an understanding of the electromagnetic environment, the effects of adverse power quality, and the means to identify and correct sources of interference. The experience of the PowerCET founders provides the basis for the services offered by PowerCET. Bruce Lonie and Tom Shaughnessy, co-founders of PowerCET Corporation, have extensive experience in the investigation and diagnosis of complex electrical environment problems. They specialize in the application of mitigation equipment to resolve productivity and reliability issues. Services range from investigation of traditional electrical power problems to the solution of complex longitudinal interference problems found on local area networks ( LANs ) and other communication facilities. Test and measurement procedures include low and high frequency observation, testing and problem resolution. Field experience and research efforts by PowerCET's founders have resulted in the development of proprietary monitoring equipment, procedures, and software to automate the data collection and analysis process. Dr. Michael F. Stringfellow, Ph.D., P.E., joined PowerCET Corporation as Chief Scientist in July 1994. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of lightning, lightning protection, general power quality, failure analysis and forensic investigations. Dr. Stringfellow manages the PowerCET facility in Scottsdale, Arizona. PowerCET Canada was established effective January 1, 1997 in partnership with Better Technologies Corporation ( BTC ) of Ottawa, Canada. PowerCET Canada will be operated as a division of BTC. The professional staff of the Canadian operation will service the Canadian market and supplement PowerCET ( USA ) in domestic and international operations. Services include facility audits and investigations directed at power quality and electromagnetic interference problems. Additional services include lightning risk analysis, facility hardening against the effects of lightning, and facility-wide evaluation of transient protection systems. Fortune 100 clients include major health facilities, financial institutions, semi-conductor fabrication facilities, data-network and telecommunications installations, and electrical utilities. Forensic consulting services include root-cause analysis, stray voltage investigations and product reliability evaluations. Expert witness services include technical review and evaluation of depositions and documentation, briefings, research, field investigations and testimony. PowerCET headquarters in Santa Clara maintains a 500 square foot lab area for testing and evaluating portable ( transportable ) equipment. System profiling and sensitivity testing for EMI, RFI and ESD are performed in the lab or at customer locations. In addition, PowerCET performs surge testing of electronic equipment and electrical protection equipment for manufacturers and end users. Software Products PowerCET introduced a unique new software product in late 1992. The software product, named MainEvent, is designed for use with appropriate test equipment to provide the user with automated electromagnetic environment monitoring, data collection and analysis. Versions of MainEvent have been successfully utilized in both domestic and international operations. PowerCET conducts educational and training programs on a regular basis. Course subject areas include: power quality analysis, power frequency harmonics, lightning and lightning protection, advanced ( electromagnetic ) environmental monitoring and survey techniques, and operational skills on a variety of instrumentation and
