As the son of a school superintendent, Jon Ziehl recognized that teachers and other educational staff weren't receiving the same service and investments from their retirement plan providers as those in the for-profit market. Founding PlanMember in 1982, Mr. Ziehl's goal was to bring the type of retirement investments that large corporations and government agencies had enjoyed to the nonprofits, schools and other organizations that went overlooked and underserviced. At the outset, the company's advisors were mostly retired teachers looking to help their colleagues plan for retirement. As the company grew, PlanMember developed its own fulltime independent advisor distribution system. Today PlanMember has grown in its national scope, now managing billions in assets and partnering with 400 skilled advisors across the nation and remains dedicated to its founding purpose of helping individuals and organizations that serve our community and shape our future, start planning for their futures.
