Students at PJHS are placed in learning communities, teams of 150 classmates who share the same teachers for core classes. This is designed to give students more individualized attention and present information geared to students' individual interests.
The school has a variety of sports, from volleyball to basketball and a variety of clubs, like choir, leadership, yearbook and French and Spanish. It also has an active School Site Council and the GATE (Gifted and Talented Education) program. PJHS received 826 on its Academic Performance Index, a top score on the California proficiency exam.
