Profile powder injection molding (PIM) was pioneered by Parmatech Corporation founder, Karl Zueger. In 1973, Zueger left Fairchild Semiconductor in Silicon Valley, Calif., when he saw a need for manufacturing precise, ceramic capillary tubes used for wire-bonding integrated circuits. Shortly thereafter, he patented the process of ceramic injection molding (CIM) and metal injection molding (MIM), also called powder injection molding (PIM). The corporation maintains its manufacturing facility in Petaluma, Calif. Through its extensive licensee network, Parmatech can offer manufacturing in several other regions of the world.
