Tucked in an upstairs suite in the California building, Palo Alto Violins is not the easiest place to find. But the owner, Larry, has extensive experience repairing violins, cellos, violas, and basses, as well as building them from scratch. His shop contains many stringed instruments in various stages of repair and construction. Everywhere, there are artifacts of classical music including a photo of Cremona, Italy, home of Antonio Stradivari, who is considered the ultimate luthier of violins. Larry is also a music teacher, and offers lessons and rents instruments.
