The City of Palo Alto Police Department provides public safety services to more than 61,200 residents of the city of Palo Alto, Calif. Its patrol unit responds to emergency and nonemergency requests for service. The department s property and evidence unit collects, processes and stores evidence to assist in the identification and prosecution of offenders. Its crime analysis unit is responsible for the management of various public safety automated systems, as well as the production of statistical and management reports for fire and police departments. The department s parking enforcement unit manages, enforces and resolves vehicle parking regulations. Its police community services unit conducts educational programs to increase public safety awareness. The City of Palo Alto Police Department also has detectives, animal services, records, communications, volunteer services and police reserve units.
