Palisades Charter High School is a four-year high school that converted to fiscally independent charter status in 2003. Students come from the Pacific Palisades community, as well as from areas throughout Los Angeles. The school was recognized as a California Distinguished School in 2005, and has been identified by Newsweek Magazine as a Top American High School. The spacious campus sits along Temescal Canyon Road, with a full-size sports stadium and athletic fields. Academic programs include standard subjects, foreign languages, life skills, technical education, Advanced Placement, honors and visual and performing arts.
Additionally, the school has a career center, college center, community service department and parent associations. A wide range of athletic programs, clubs and extracurricular activities are available for students to enjoy. Many notable alumni include J.J. Abrams, Christie Brinkley, will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, Forest Whitaker and many other artists, musicians, writers and athletes. Admissions to Palisades High requires application, with priority given to submissions from local neighborhoods.
