The Pacific Electric Railway Company Substation No. 8, also known as the Altadena Substation, is a historic traction substation located in Altadena, California. Built in 1905, it served as a vital power source for the Pacific Electric Railway and the Mount Lowe Railway.
Designated as a National Historic Place in 1977, the substation played a significant role in converting high voltage AC to lower voltage DC for the operation of electric interurban and trolley cars in the Pasadena area. Today, the building is repurposed as an office space and a thrift store run by the Pacific Southwest Mennonite Conference.
