The Owens Valley Indian Water Commission (OVIWC) is a Tribal consortium consisting of the Bishop, Big Pine, and Lone Pine Tribes, working together to advance self-sufficiency and sovereignty, protect and promote culture and traditions, and improve environmental and human health conditions in the Owens Valley and Eastern Sierra.
The OVIWC's mission is to increase sustainability and food security, preserve and restore land and habitat, improve water quality and supply, and assist Tribes with securing water rights settlements that include land acquisition. With a board of directors comprised of experienced Tribal Council members, the OVIWC collaborates with member Tribes and environmental staff to plan and implement projects that promote the protection of water, land, and the environment.
