The Oceanside Unified School District is a public school system that offers services to more than 22,000 students in over 25 elementary, middle, comprehensive high, charter and alternative schools. Located in Oceanside, Calif., it employs a work force of nearly 2,300 full- and part-time staff members, including classroom teachers, support personnel and paraprofessionals. The school district organizes a variety of extracurricular activities and before- and after-school learning programs, as well as the Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program. The Oceanside Unified School District s the Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program provides under-represented, college-bound students at the middle and high school level to help them succeed in school, gain access to four-year colleges and universities, and become educated and responsible participants in the society.
