History
. My name is Mark Northacker. I'm the former president of MNGC Builders Inc. which was located in the suburbs of Philadelphia. I grew into that position from apprenticeship served in the 1970s. The old traditions were revered in those days and an apprentice had to show his expertise using hand tools and calculations done long hand before he was allowed to play with the power tools. Over the years I've had the honor and privilege of working on some of the finest architecture in the world. World famous cabinet maker George Nakashima was a neighbor and I picked up a lot of knowledge from him. I'm certified by the Philadelphia Historical Commission and have worked on restorations of many buildings that predate the Revolutionary War. As the economy slowed, so did restoration starts. That, along with my dislike of cold weather, made me decide to fold up shop and move to sunny Southern California where I could slow down and focus on being a hands on craftsman again instead of a businessman.
