Nissan North America manufacturers and distributes various types of vehicles, including sedans, crew cabs, minivans, coupes, trucks, crossovers and sport utility vehicles. The company is a part of the Nissan Motor Company, which came to the United States to sell vehicles in 1958 and began importing and making Datsun vehicles under the name Nissan Motor Corporation, U.S.A., in 1960. In 1990, Nissan North America was created to enhance the design, development, manufacturing and marketing of Nissan vehicles in North America. Nissan North America provides a range of Nissan models that includes the 350Z, Sentra, Altima, Maxima, Xterra, Pathfinder, Frontier, Titan, Murano, Armada and Quest. The company also offers a variety of Infiniti models that includes the Q45, M45, G35, I35, FX and QX56. Its additional operations include automotive styling and consumer and corporate financing through various lenders. The company has production plants in Smyrna and Decherd, Tenn., and Canton, Miss. and markets vehicles through more than 1,000 dealerships. Nissan North America also provides funds for charitable organizations engaged in educational activities. It is headquartered in Gardena, Calif.
