Established in 1919, the Assistance League of Southern California, also known as ALSC, is a nonprofit organization that provides human services and economic development activities to low and moderate income residents in Los Angeles and San Fernando Valley, Calif. It has more than 800 members who provide planning, policy making and league services. The organization offers services for children, families, individuals and seniors. The Assistance League of Southern California operates a club for children that provides educational and recreational activities for children, as well as art and athletic programs. It provides individual and family therapies and marital counseling and child abuse prevention services. The organization operates the Hollywood Senior Multipurpose Center, which provides yoga and acting classes and health seminars. The Assistance League of Southern California operates a gift shop that features various collectibles, decorative items and gifts.
