California Department of Insurance - Fraud Division
The Sacramento office of the California Department of Insurance's Fraud Division serves as a place for consumers to report suspected insurance fraud. This office serves the following counties: Alpine, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, El Dorado, Glenn, Lassen, Modoc, Mono, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne, Yolo and Yuba. Reporting suspected fraud can be done anonymously. Some of the types of fraud that the department investigates include automobile collision, medical, life, worker's compensation, fire and others. The state's Fraud Division employs 260 employees, including 194 sworn officers. Fraud Division detectives are sworn peace officers.
