The San Leandro Recreation Administration offers a variety of parks, pools, and community rooms available to residents and non-residents of the City of San Leandro, Calif. City pools are available for recreation, classes, and rental reservations. San Leandro has an extensive park system that includes 23 parks and recreation facilities including community and neighborhood parks, swimming pools and sports fields. Facilities encourage a variety of activities including running and walking, picnicking, tennis, softball, and swimming. Five large group picnic areas and all three swimming pools are available on a reservation basis for family activities or a large group gathering. The Kid s Club program is an after school program designed to serve 1st through 5th grade students at several school sites in the community from the time school is dismissed to 6 p.m. San Leandro, discovered in 1772 by a Spanish explorer, is a friendly and diverse city with a colorful heritage and numerous cultural amenities including a 450-berth Marina, two golf courses and a large community library.
