History
The Garden Terrace was started in 1993 by current owners Chef Patricia Cluche' and General Manager Gay Martin. The restaurant was a natural progression from Chef Cluche's Behind The Scenes Catering, in Palm Desert, California. The first year, the assistance of two other accomplished women chefs was enlisted... Nicole Brasselet, a third generation Cordon Bleu chef (whose grandmother was the first such woman chef), and famed San Diego Chef/Restauranteur Deborah Helm of Mixx and the two Mission Cafes. After this first year push, Martin and Cluche' were off and running. The business expanded to include an eclectic gift shop and in 2000 a banquet room and cocktail bar. Seven years later the banquet room was relinquished to the recession, but after eighteen years, Cluche and Martin still own and operate both the Garden Terrace Restaurant and Behind The Scenes Catering. In 2009 Cluche' turned her talents to oil painting and the gift shop was converted into a gallery for her landscapes.
Specialties
Great European-style Delicatessen with Classic Deli Sandwiches on fresh baked Baguettes, 9 grain, Rye or Gluten Free bread. A wide selection of fresh deli salads like Caprese, Arugula Orange Feta, or Southwest with Black Bean Patty and imported cheeses including Manchego, St. Andre, Tomme de Savoie and Rustico with Pepper are available to eat in or take out. Wonderful desserts including fresh baked Chocolate Coconut or Lemon Cooler Cookies, Chocolate Turtle Tart, Lemon Cheesecake, Croissant Bread Pudding and real Italian Gelato and Espresso. Sandwich Party Platters and Box Lunches for Libby Park are available as well as Full Service Behind the Scenes Catering since 1985.
