History
Manhattan GMAT was founded in 2000 by Zeke Vanderhoek, a member of Teach for America who believed that teacher quality is critical to student success. Zeke began tutoring GMAT students and set out to attract other highly skilled teachers by paying the best compensation in the industry. Since its foundation, Manhattan GMAT has emerged as the nation's leading GMAT preparation company, catering to students interested in learning advanced curricular content from a highly selective group of expert teachers. At the beginning of 2007, Zeke retired from his position as CEO and ceded the position to Andrew Yang, who had started as Manhattan GMAT's first instructor. Zeke has gone on to found the The Equity Project, a charter school in New York City for underprivileged children based on the same principles of high compensation for highly skilled teachers.
