In 2007, the school was ranked among the nation's top 2 percent of high schools by U.S. News &World Report. Over the years Los Alamitos High School has been repeatedly named a California Distinguished School and National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Athletically, over the last decade Los Alamitos High School teams have won CIF division championships or beyond in football, boys' tennis, girls' volleyball, boys' and girls' soccer, surf team, girls' lacrosse and boys' basketball and golf. The school is also well known for its Vocal Music Program with five choirs, including national championship winners. More than 3,000 students from ninth to twelfth grade attend Los Alamitos High School, which serves students from Los Alamitos, Rossmoor and Seal Beach.
