Its name refers to the type of surfboard winemaker-owner, Oded Shakked, uses when he's challenging the rugged waves that roll into the North Bay shoreline. An avid surfer, Shakked even named one of his wines, "Mavericks," in honor of the famed local surfing spot known for huge waves.
The winery's surfing theme starts at the curb where a "Woody" is parked. Inside, surfboards and beach decor abound. It's all part of Longboard's mission to take the intimidation out of wine tasting. A couple of comfortable couches allow customers to kick-back, sip wine, socialize or watch surfing events on a wide screen TV. A colorful collection of sports apparel is offered marked with the distinctive Longboard logo.
