Psychiatrists and psychoanalysts

"The service you give is the price you pay for living on the planet" I believe this to be true to the core of my soul. That's why I am in the field of healthcare where I can help people and spend a large portion of my free time in community service.
I could go on and on about what I do and my back ground but I would be remiss if I didn't mention where currently, the majority of my community service goes. It is to the "Dana Point 5th Marine Support Group". We love our warriors and want to support and their families in any way we can while they are deployed protecting our freedom and right to live the way we do.
Now, on to my business info and background. I found myself drawn to chiropractic in a most interesting way. I always wanted to be a marine biologist but after two years of study I had to face up to the fact that my preponderance for getting sea sick might get in the way of my career aspirations.
So now what do I do with all this chemistry, biology and anatomy I had been learning about. I soon learned about chiropractic and after completing my understudies at San Diego State University, I was accepted into the most prestigious Chiropractic college in the world; Palmer College.
Let's talk about the office. When I first meet a new patient who has no knowledge of how chiropractic works and has become the number 1 alternative health profession in the world I frequently tell the story of the three day old infant that was born with only one eye open and a huge rash over the forehead. The hospital staff said it would probably go away in time and that it would take care of itself. The doctors just said,"wait and see".
Well, I waited and waited and waited and after three days, nothing had changed. I decided to check her spine because as we all know, the birth process is very traumatic as the baby passes thru the birth canal and the twisting and turning of the head and shoulders can affect the alignment of the spine, thereby affecting the nervous system.
As I palpated (felt the anatomy with my hands) and found that the top vertebra was out of alignment (this is called a subluxation). This was more than likely caused by the torsion of the delivery. It was time to do my thing. No more waiting! I gently cradled her tiny head in my hands and applied a light pressue to the affected area and 'Voila"! There was a tiny click as the Atlas went back into position.
The result? It wasn't even five minutes and her eye opened up and the rash almost completely disappeared. Now here is the question.
Was I treating an eye or a rash? Of course not. What I did was remove nerve interference that was being caused by a bone out of place and the body did the rest by doing what it was meant to do.
Did I mention that this child was my daughter?
From that day on I no longer was a Chiropractor who deals with just neck and back pain. I began looking at the nervous system as a whole and in doing so find the source of the problems, conditions or injury and if are caused or affected by interference to the nervous system, then I treat accordingly.
