Christensen Middle School is named after Andrew N. Christensen, a longtime resident of the Livermore Valley who served 19 years on the Green School District Board of Trustees and 14 years on the Livermore Joint Union High School District Board of Trustees. The school was established as an elementary school in 1977, serving students, grades K - 5. It transitioned into a middle school shortly after the remodeling of the existing buildings and addition of new classrooms in 1991. Christensen Middle School's leadership program is popular among students, who serve on various committees to facilitate noon-time activities, encourage school spirit, recognize student achievements, host talent shows and school dances and celebrate students and staff. The campus can host more than 900 students, a capacity it has yet to reach, officials said. The school colors are blue and gold and the school mascot is a cougar. Christensen is one of 12 schools in the district to have an API score of 800 or more. Amy Robbins is the school principal.
