Community Music School, founded in 1993 and located in Santa Cruz, Calif., is a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of musical programs and classes. The school has a team of educators, music enthusiasts, performers and student musicians. It also organizes various concerts, camps and classes throughout the United States. Community Music School is supported by volunteers and invites grants and donations in-kind. The school offers various programs, including teacher referrals, concert series, workshops with visiting artists and summer Celtic camps. It also offers music match, instrument petting zoos, group classes & activities and recordings. Community Music School has independently produced several professional recordings that raise money for its programs. The school s albums feature music from ethnic and folk traditions, including Celtic music, Shape Note singing, and songs of the Shakers.
