History
Constructed 1866 remodeled 1936 For over 100 years the Jamison Brown House (JBH) was owned by two families of local & regional importance. A unique history that reflects the changing taste of American architectural styles during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This historic, Colonial Revival house was moved to the Triton Museum of Art (TMA) grounds in 1971. A two-story wooden residence. In 1866 Samuel Jamison, County Sheriff, County Supervisor and State Assemblyman, constructed the original vernacular Italianate style home, near Great America Park. Following his death in 1914, it was sold to Alfred Brown, notable rancher. He added the distinctive pillars, balustrade of the veranda and Pacific Manufacturing Co. mill craftsman created the magnificent room upstairs. Paneled with some 100 different kinds of wood from all over the world. Brown's nephew, George and wife Lois Brown, donated the house to the City of Santa Clara. It was then relocated to its present site.
