At a young age, Dr. Suchy’s family instilled in him an appreciation for personal well-being, the importance of education, and a responsibility to do social good. Later, volunteer health work abroad exposed him to the significance of quality medical care. These values and experiences made becoming a physician a natural choice. Dr. Suchy is board certified in family medicine and sports medicine. He chose these specialties because he enjoys building trusting partnerships with his patients while providing comprehensive medical care that optimizes health and physical performance. Dr. Suchy completed his sports medicine fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University and his medical degree and residency in family medicine at the University of California, Irvine. His clinical interests include general non-operative musculoskeletal care, endurance athletes, ultrasound-guided joint and tissue injections, sports-related concussions, and public education. He has cared for a wide variety of athletic individuals and teams such as high school and collegiate football, soccer, and basketball players, Kona World Championship Ironman triathletes, recreational marathoners, Nike professional runners, and weekend warriors of all types. “As a life-long athlete myself, I understand that even a minor injury can disrupt someone’s physical activity goals,” explains Dr. Suchy. “I employ treatment strategies focused on maximizing recovery while minimizing downtime. I take great satisfaction in guiding my patients to a successful return to the activities they love.” Orange County native, Dr. Suchy is excited to work at Hoag where he can provide an exceptional healthcare experience to the community. “I love being able to make an immediately apparent difference in others’ lives every day,” says Dr. Suchy. Outside of work, Dr. Suchy enjoys spending time with family and friends, living a healthy and active lifestyle through outdoor adventures, and discovering different healthy cuisines.
