"It was designed to resemble the low-slung and stylish lines of the upper decks of a 1930s cruise ship," explains I-House director Elizabeth Sherwin. Gracing the entrance to College Park, one of Davis's most exclusive neighborhoods, I-House is both a unique international and community resource.
Essentially, I-House provides hospitality to foreign students and faculty spending time in Davis. From maintaining a "kitchen lending closet" (providing equipment on a temporary basis to help folks who've just arrived in Davis) to sponsoring English classes, hosting holiday celebrations of many different cultures and performing a plethora of other much needed and appreciated services, I-House's hospitality is comprehensive.
I-House also reaches out to the local Davis community through sponsoring film showings, art exhibitions, Amnesty International meetings, informative lectures on international topics and other cultural activities.
