The American Friends of the Hebrew University (AFHU) is a national, not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting one of Israel's most prominent centers for higher learning and research, The Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The AFHU offers several cultural and educational programs in hopes of enhancing the understanding and appreciation of the University's achievements in technology, medicine, law, agriculture and public policy. Founded in 1925 by an American philanthropist, Felix M. Warburg, the organization has regional offices across the United States, with its Northwest Headquarters located in Walnut Creek. Those who would like to support the AFHU can get involved in numerous ways, including attending local events, joining an AFHU Mission, making a gift, receiving the organization's newsletter or becoming of member of the Einstein Visionaries, an honorary society for charitable supporters. Volunteer support goes towards building teaching and research facilities, providing student scholarships, advancing university research and furthering international peace and cultural understanding. Beth Kyman currently serves as the Executive Director of the AFHU's Pacific Norwest Region.
