Inglewood Unified School District includes more than 10 elementary schools and over five secondary schools. Founded in 1953, it serves more than 17,000 students in kindergarten through grade 12 from the cities of Inglewood and Ladera Heights. In addition, it has a community adult school with more than 8,000 students. The superintendent of schools and the district board ensure that the schools are safe, academic programs improve and that there is an effective partnership with all segments of the community. Its strategic plan describes improvements in the system and how to achieve it and has been developed through a consensus decision-making process. It has its office in Inglewood, Calif.
