Immaculate Heart High School and Middle School is a college-preparatory school for young women. Opened by the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1906, the private school is located on seven acres of hillside property, near the corner of Western and Franklin avenues in the Los Feliz area of Los Angeles.
Many of the schools' earliest graduates were pioneers in fields rarely open to women. Today, almost 100 percent of graduates here go on to college immediately and often to the most prestigious in the country. The school's mascot is a panda, and its colors are blue and white. The graduation ceremony for the senior class is held at the Hollywood Bowl.
