In addition to its Sunday worship, the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church hosts a variety of other community events including a number of weekly 12-step meetings and three annual Alkathons. It also serves as a meeting place for the San Mateo County Friendship Center for developmentally disabled adults. The church proudly welcomes worshippers of all ages, genders and sexual orientations. The church underwent a major renovation in 2004, which restored its circa 1910 Good Shepherd stained glass window.
The Sunday worship includes a sung service with organ and piano music and clergy's sermons. The church also holds an annual outdoor St. Francis service.
The Little Hands Parent-Child Center, located adjacent to the church, uses many of the church buildings during the week.
