History
Based in the heart of Silicon Valley, just on the border of Palo Alto and Mountain View, Golden State Youth Orchestra (formerly El Camino Youth Symphony) was founded in 1963 by William Galbraith, a young violinist and conductor, who envisioned a youth orchestra that would give student musicians the opportunity to learn and perform challenging professional-level repertoire. 55 years later, Golden State continues to provide first-rate music education programs to students who wish to play inspiring orchestral works with a youth instrumental ensemble.
