Gardner Bullis School is one of seven elementary schools in the Los Altos School District. The school opened in 2008 on the site of the former Bullis Purissima School, which the district closed in 2003 due to budget cuts. The closure of the only public school left in Los Altos Hills was marked by controversy, and the opening of the new school on the old site was celebrated by residents eager to see a school there once more.
Gardner Bullis had a 2009 base Academic Performance Index score of 968.
Los Altos Hills residents currently in the Palo Alto Unified School District are allowed to transfer their students to Gardner Bullis.
The school offers "Grizzly Academy," enrichment programs before and after school hours, for a fee. Programs range from chess, science, Mandarin, Spanish, chorus and theater, among others.
