Specialties
Open House April 22, 2016 Friends Western School is a community-based cooperative that values inquiry, participation, examination and reflection. We believe in each child's curiosity and compassion, and we work with each student to nurture a lifelong love of learning and a strong sense of integrity. We are a K-5 Quaker school. Class sizes are small, capped at 14 students per class. All students receive weekly instruction by specialty teachers in art, music and yoga. There is a weekly park day with structured games and sports. Hikes and field trips are an important part of our curriculum. We have monthly community lunches. We do not emphasize testing, grades or standards but we do value academic proficiency and provide an educational atmosphere that has both progressive and traditional components. We invite you to attend one of our open houses to learn more about our philosophy, culture and curriculum. Next open house: February 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.
