The Ballona Wetlands is one of the last significant wetlands in Los Angeles. It is named after the Ballona Creek, which runs through it. The Friends of Ballona Wetlands is a non-profit organization that is working to help save and restore the Wetlands. More than 5,500 people visit the wetlands annually, thanks to the Friends of Ballona Wetlands. There are numerous volunteer and educational opportunities available for residents and students.
