A variety of seaweed, crabs, sponges, sea stars, mollusks, and fish make their homes in the inter-tidal; that area between low and high tide. The Reserve is set aside to protect this complex but fragile community for us and future generations.

Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve

Pescadero Marsh Natural Preserve is a 235-acre wetland located in Half Moon Bay, CA. It is the only extensive wetland along the coast of the San Francisco Peninsula, offering visitors the opportunity to hike trails, go bird watching, view wildlife, kayak, and fish (seasonally). The preserve includes various habitats such as a tidal estuary, freshwater marsh, brackish water marsh, riparian woods, and coastal scrub. With four hiking trails available, visitors can explore the different areas of the marsh, including Butano Trail, Round Hill Trail, North Pond Trail, and Sequoia Audubon Trail. Guided tours led by Pescadero Marsh docents are also offered on scheduled dates, providing informative walks that last about two hours.
