HistoryI began my apprenticeship in 1979 with John Svec Piano Rebuilders on Evelyn Ave in Mountain View, CA. He had an engineering degree from Northwestern University and had his apprenticeship with Bob Burton of Redwood City. Bob was a well respected piano rebuilder for over 60 yrs. After a 2 yr stint as John's apprentice and then working with and for him for the next 4 years, John moved to Chico and I took over the rebuilding shop until the building was sold in 1992 and we lost our lease. I then moved to San Jose with my associate Ernie M and we opened California Piano Co on The Alameda where we rebuilt and sold pianos.
