The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department is a part of the government of Sacramento County in California. It provides mandated regulatory services that are supported by fees and outside revenues. The department operates through environmental health, hazardous material and water protection divisions. The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department administers a food safety education program that includes instruction in the areas of personal hygiene, food contamination, facility sanitation, and time and temperature control. It receives complaints related to the illegal dumping of chemicals, waste oil, radiator fluid and paint. The department is responsible for the underground storage of hazardous substances. The Sacramento County Environmental Management Department conducts stormwater compliance inspections at auto repair shops, gas stations, restaurants, nurseries and kennels.
