The Museum is dedicated to preserving, restoring, and interpreting the historical 1862 Drum Barracks Junior Officers' Quarters building and the artifacts, collections, library, displays, and authentic Civil War memorabilia of the Museum and the Drum Barracks Garrison & Society.

Access to Museum is through tour only, all tours are guided. Weekdays tours begin at 10AM and 11:30AM, and on weekends at 11:30AM and 1PM. Please no photography, audio, or video recording in the museum. The Drum Barracks Civil War Museum is a facility of the City of Los Angeles Department of Recreation and Parks and the State of California Department of Parks and Recreation. The mission of the Drum Barracks Civil War Museum is to display and teach the history of the Civil War, with an emphasis on California's role in the conflict.
