History
The roots of Dongguk University reach back to 1976 when Dr. Harvart R. Hongo began teaching the fundamentals of acupuncture and Oriental Medicineat his Sei Shin Acupuncture Clinic. Encouraged by his patients, who wished to learn more about this wonderful healing art, Dr. Hongo took the initial steps towards his goal of combining research and educational pursuits along with providing charitable health services to the surrounding community. Dr. Hongo's goal materialized in 1979 with the founding of Royal University. In January of 1997, Dongguk (translates as East Country) University , one of South Korea's oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning, especially known for its outstanding college of Oriental Medicine, aquired Royal University of America, renaming it Dongguk Royal University (DRU). In May of 2009, the University was rededicated as Dongguk University Los Angeles.
Specialties
DULA is a California approved University which offers an accredited Master of Science in Oriental Medicine degree program. The DULA Oriental Medicine Center is open 6 days a week providing affordable healthcare to the community.
