WIC (Women, Infants and Children) is a special supplemental food program that improves the nutritional status of low-income breastfeeding and postpartum women and infants and children up to five years. The program provides assistance in finding health care and other community services. Located in Stockton, Calif., it is operated by Delta Health Care, which is a private, nonprofit agency that provides health care services and health-oriented information to the people in greater San Joaquin County in California. The agency s medical services include vision and hearing screenings and treatment for chronic conditions, such as asthma and diabetes. It also provides case management and individual, group and family counseling services.
