Founded in 2000 in association with the Davis Farmers Market, DFSC offers connections between the classroom and hands-on educational experiences for Davis area elementary school students. Some activities include "Edible Schoolyard" gardening, classroom cooking, building and maintaining composting bins to take care of school cafeteria food waste and visits to local farms. DFSC educates Davis school cafeteria cooks about organic trends in kitchen techniques and alternatives to processed, additive-laden food.
