Named “Dahila Heights” because it’s located in an area of Eagle Rock where a horticulturist once grew and sold prize-winning dahlias around the world, this K-6 school is one of LAUSD’s best. Known for its creative approach to education and for its wide range of extracurricular activities—most notably music and art—Dahlia Heights had a 2010 Academic Performance Index of 845 and is one of the few elementary schools in California to be given a “Distinguished GreatSchools” ranking of 8 out of 10.
