History
As a therapist, I provide a supportive space that honors and welcomes every part of your experience with compassion and respect. Using my training and experience, I will collaborate with you, so that you get more of your needs met and live a more empowered life. Together we will co-create a space where all parts of you are welcome. I appreciate that the process of finding the right therapist may be challenging. Let's you and me get curious about your experience.
Specialties
My approach to psychotherapy comes out of my training in Somatic Psychology, which is based on the premise that the mind and body are interconnected. This work is experientially-focused and may include EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), an evidence-based modality that has helped many people transform their traumatic or overwhelming experiences as well as addictive behavior. While we can't undo past trauma itself, we can help you put your trauma experience in the past so you're not reliving it in your mind and body in the present moment. We will also help you discover strengths you've had all along, and develop new strengths and resources. Together we will explore vulnerable feelings and old wounds that may play out as patterns in daily life. My approach is kind, clear and honest. You can expect me to ask a lot of questions to help you examine your underlying beliefs and to help you more deeply know yourself. I will also use somatically-based tools such as mindfulness meditation and body awareness. Learning more about what you do and how you do it can help you make more informed choices about how you want to be in your life and in the world. All that we have done has helped us survive. Self-protection, in all its forms, is to be respected. I believe vulnerability and strength are closely-related and that cultivating self-compassion is essential.
