The Colusa County Sheriff's Office has more than 70 staff members and over 90 volunteers. Its patrol unit is responsible for patrolling the unincorporated areas of the county. The office s investigation unit is made up of plainclothe detectives who follow up on reported crimes related to property, sex and finance. The Colusa County Sheriff's Office maintains a jail facility that can house nearly 90 prisoners. It also conducts the Drug Abuse Resistance Education program, which provides school children with facts on the consequences of substance abuse. The office s special enforcement team is skilled in the areas of special weapons and tactics. Its civil unit handles court civil process, as well as domestic violence restraining and family law orders. The Colusa County Sheriff's Office additionally operates a communication center to respond to police, fire, medical and emergency assistance calls.
